Solar in Illinois: More Funding for the Adjustable Block Program

Solar in Illinois just got even brighter!

If you’ve been following the Adjustable Block Program we’ve got some good news!

On April 3rd, 2019, the Adjustable Block Program Administrator allocated additional funding to the program, including a large amount to the Large Distributed Generation (Commercial Solar) category.

This means additional incentive funding is available for new solar projects that apply to the Program going forward!

What is the Illinois Adjustable Block Program?

Utility companies in Illinois can buy the Renewable Energy Credits that a solar array will produce over its lifetime. Through the Adjustable Block Program, you would receive a payment incentive in exchange for the RECs. You would also benefit from the federal tax credit for solar and the electrical cost savings from your new solar array.

Allocation of New Funding by Group

The remaining funds for the Adjustable Block Program have been awarded where the program has seen the most need for the funding. This funding is great news if you’re thinking about solar in Illinois, however, you need to act fast to take advantage of these incentives and get your application in. Due to the demand we expect the funding to deplete rapidly.

We Make it Simple

We think there’s never been a better time to go solar in Illinois! We’ll work with you to assess the cost of solar and estimate your ABP payments as well as applicable tax incentives. If approved for the Adjustable Block Program, the block program structure will set the amount you would receive for your RECs.

  • More funding has come available, but it's still limited and will only last so long.
  • We recommend moving forward soon, as the application process takes time for us to get approval with your utility provider.
  • Getting a quote and signing your contract for solar now gives us a head start on the tasks we need to complete for your application.

Working with an Approved Vendor

The Adjustable Block Program requires that your application is submitted by an approved vendor. This ensures that your solar company will be able to complete everything needed for your application. Using an approved vendor puts you in the hands of an experienced installer that’s been thoroughly vetted.

You’ll have peace of mind knowing that your solar system was designed and installed by qualified professionals, so you can benefit from it for decades to come.
